The Best PS3 Move Games 2011-2012
90
For anyone who has always loved the Playstation, the PS3 Move games are a fantastic addition. Many older games have been given a new dimension. Many kinds of games that would never have worked on older Playstations are now available.
The range is huge- sports games, fitness games, shooter games and action games all benefit from a Move controller. It is important to get the latest games compatible with Move, of course. It is also worth looking out for classic Playstation games like the Sly Collection that have been updated to use the new technology.
Just for fun, here is a page of the very best games available this year.

Best Releases in 2011 for the PS3 Move
De Blob 2
This is one of those action-adventure games that turns out to be relaxing in a hypnotic kind of way. It is also wonderfully gratifying because you feel you are doing so much good.
Your task is to return color to a world where all the color has been stolen. You are also liberating the inhabitants - the Graydians - from their dreary prison. To do this, you need to absorb colors wherever you can and paint everything that needs painting - while avoiding the evil Inkt corperation and its chief agent, Commander Black.
SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy Seals
The game is a squad-based shooter with a strong tactical component. You need to organize you squad effectively to get the most from their special abilities. Tactics range from stealthy approach and surprise to full-on firefights.
The basic game has a list price of around $57 but you will get a lot of gameplay from this one. There is a mega bundle available at a massive $150 but is pretty good value for anyone who wants to get the most from the game but doesn't have all the Move accessories. Besides the game there is the Move motion controller, the Move navigation controller, the Eye camera and the sharp shooter- a realistic looking gun that the motion controller slips inside. This allows you to point and shoot at the bad guys on the screen with a realistically quick response time and overall feel.
The multiplayer mode allows up to 32 players.
Dance on Broadway
I don't think this is a serious rival to Zumba Dance (see below) in the fitness market but it is fun for fans of musicals like Fame, Dreamgirls, Westside Story or Little Shop of Horrors.
The dance routines start simple but soon become a real learning experience. You get to sing too with on-screen lyrics. Eventually you might be a star!
The Broadway-style sets and big ensemble pieces are genuinely engaging.
Fitness Games for Move
EA Sports Active 2
EA offer probably the most comprehensive fitness program in game format. It is not perfect, though. Sometimes you get lag between sequences and sometimes it can seem repetitive. For most of us though, this is a genuine motivator and has helped many people get in real good shape.
There are around 70 different exercise routines to work through. You can use the supplied music or add your own.
The motion and heart sensors that are supplied, plus the detailed data feedback do a good job of accessing how you are are progressing with time.
Zumba Fitness
For anyone who wants to be fit but gets easily bored with treadmill-type training, Zumba Fitness is a gift from workout heaven. Most fitness training challenges you. Zumba makes you want to challenge the program.
You don't have to be wildly competitive to get drawn into the challenge. It just happens.
Dancing with other people in real life or online (it is easy to find partners out there, this game is extraordinarily popular) takes a workout to a whole other level.
There are also options for dancing alone and working through the various levels. These are fun as the game responds more and more to your increasing skill and energy by providing more even more exciting settings.
There are nine dance styles to perfect and 30 different routines, so variety will never be an issue.
This is not only one of the most comprehensive dance/fitness programs around it is also one of the most affordable. Compare it to Workout DVD's or classes and you realize what a great bargain it is.
Start the Party
This is not a fitness game, but it is a great way of getting kids some exercise, especially when the weather outside is lousy.
There are more than 20 separate games to get involved in. You can spear puffer fish in an underwater game. You can try to hold out against hoards of invading alien robots. There is a pretty spooky ghost hunt.
The game play can be competitive or cooperative, and there are plenty of team play options that let the whole family get involved. There are also solo play modes for anyone who gets really hooked or wants to practice a skill.
It is surprising how high the energy levels get with just a couple of kids - use this game at a party and things will fly!
Playstation 3 Move Sports Games
Sports Champions
This is the starter game that Sony are offering with various hardware bundles for the PS3. It has a wide range of sport games from table tennis to archery and is a good way to get a feel for the possibilities of the Move technology.
The table tennis game, in fact, is one of the best motion-controlled games on any platform. There are high hopes for future tennis games from Sony.
Prepare to be driven to fitness by your competitive instincts!
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11
Everyone has tried a golf game. Some people are addicts. Many of us would rather watch paint dry. A motion-controller, though, makes all the difference and the fantastic HD graphics help too, in this PGA Tour game. I have an uncle who swears that this is the most realistic golf sim he has ever come across.
Play in the Ryder Cup as the USA or Europe. Trample your enemies with your mighty swing. Actually, trampling your enemies might get you banned, so ignore that last remark.
Brunswick Pro Bowling
Not everyone is a fan of this bowling game. People who have played Wii bowling games don't seem to like it at all. People who come to it fresh are enthusiastic.
It seems pretty accurate to me and the physics works. I reckon the issue is that the Wii is just a little different and the change takes some getting used to.
As soon as you are fully attuned, it is a fun bowler with the quality graphic environment you would expect and plenty of game play in the various venues and tournaments.
Action/Adventure Games
The Sly Collection
This features three of the best games from PS2, updated in glorious HD and ready for Move.
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly: Band of Thieves and Sly: Honor Among Thieves were fun platformers with plenty of mini games in their early days and are even better in the update.
Toy Story 3 The Video Game
Great movies don't often spawn great games but Pixar's Toy Story 3 certainly has. The PS3 version is especially satisfying because the graphics matter so much and here it is in full HD. There are plenty of adventures and challenges but the best thing for many people is the Toy Story World. You can customize the town to an amazing extent and change the town's people too.
The Toy Story characters are wonderful in the movie and just as wonderful here. As you progress through the game, a stage coach rolls up with your new toy rewards and each one is huge fun to play around with.
You even get to play as the Evil Zurg in the Playstation game- something you can't do elsewhere,
Best Fight Game for PS3 Move
The Fight: Lights Out
This got poor reviews from a lot of sources when it was released but it has developed a devoted fan base and is one of the most realistic fight games around. The problem for the reviewers was almost certainly that they didn't have the skills to play it.
There is full 1:1 control in the fights but you need to learn the moves. The game starts off easy but to really get ahead in the tournaments you will have to practice. In other words, this might not be the best game for a casual player but it will reward anyone with dedication (or just raw natural talent).
There are single-player and multiplayer options.
Best Shooter Games
Killzone 3
This is a first-person shooter exclusive to PS3 and works fantastically well with Move. The online mode will have you fully immersed in a world that is both nightmarish and intoxicating.
You are battling the evil Helghast Empire in a range of combat situations from melee to aerial to vehicle-based combat.
You will need both PS3 controllers (Move and Navigation) to get the best from the game.
The Shoot
For pure fun, 'The Shoot' is a tough shooter game to beat. For a setting, you choose any one of 5 movie sets- including a gangster, robot-gone-crazy sci-fi, and Wild West.
The really enjoyable part is blowing away the buildings to get at the bad guys. Shooting up a saloon is always going to be a blast.
You will need one of the Move guns to play this game but it is a worthwhile investment.
There is a 2 player mode but you need to play in one player mode before it is unlocked (which is hard if you have the kids queuing up at the unboxing).
For Younger Kids
EyePet
This game is one of the few Move games that very young kids will enjoy. Three-year-olds will delight in the game with your help and kids of 8 and up will get a lot from the game on their own.
The virtual pet appears on screen with you, or whoever is in camera range, and you learn to control its movements, accomplish tasks and interact in a surprising realistic way. It will respond to your movements intuitively as you watch it play, eat or cosy up for some attention.
Some people find the instructions difficult, so it is best for kids with parents who are familiar with game formats and have the time to learn the moves.

The SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy Seals sounds interesting, and I love De Blob 2 it helps me relax from all the seriousness in other games.
I played Killzone 3, and loved the stealth mission in it.
great hub man thanks a lot Will
Thanks for that, the PS3 definitely needs more good move games. I like the look of the new star wars kinect game that is coming out on the 360, the ps3 needs more like that
Great hub! I love the move! It seems to have more of an adult audience than the kinect or the wii. Voted up!
Nice List
Problem with fight club is the tracking sometimes sucks. Very frustrating wasting your energy on moves that just don't take off. If tracking was improved this game would be awesome. Also sometimes the scenes are so dark you can barely see your opponent, a bit irritating.
EA Sports Active 2 isn't actually a Move game at all. It uses it's own kit and sensors.
I bought the package with Sports Champions and Medieval Moves, and Sports Champions is miles from what they're describing here. The number of games is limited, and the play is repetitive and poorly responsive. I was greatly disappointed in it. I need to try some other games to see if I can find something that isn't sub-Wii to use the Move with.
When will they make a First person Medieval combat game you can actually MOVE around in the world. It would be very could is ps3 release a skyrim update to make it compatible with move or a ps3 game that was like it. I know that cross platform games will never be move compatible though... Thanks
